Yanitsa Dimitrova

Yanitsa’s ballet training starts aged just 7, in 1993 in Ruse, a city in North-East Bulgaria. At that point, dance is just a fun “after school” activity, but before long, Yanitsa falls in love with the art and dreams of becoming a proper ballerina.

A few years later, at the age of 11, Yanitsa auditions for, and is accepted at the city’s vocational art school, where she studies classical ballet for the next 8 years, until her graduation.

In 2003, while still at school, at the age of 17, Yanitsa wins the ballet competition held by Prof. Vesselin Stoyanov, from The National School of Arts.  That same year, Yanitsa takes part in the most prestigious ballet competition held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in which she makes it to the second round (out of three).

In 2005, following her graduation, Yanitsa moves to Germany for a year to continue her dance development and studies. While there, she performs with Balletshule Chemnitz, and in 2007 she is offered a company position in Ruse ballet.

Yanitsa becomes a dance member of Ruse Opera House where, over the course of three professionally fulfilling years, she takes part in several stage performances, and is part of a ballet tour to Italy and Spain.

In 2011 Yanitsa moves to London in a search of more and bigger opportunities. She works as freelance dancer, which leads to parts in a variety of independent projects such as music videos, commercials, short and feature films and various event shows.

In 2015 Yanitsa enters the Royal Academy of Dance where she spends a year completing a professional dancers teaching diploma (PDTD).

Yanitsa’s repertoire includes “Sleeping Beauty” , “Swan Lake” , “Giselle” , “Don Quixote” , “Nutcracker” and “Shopeniana”.
